Nor’easter Blizzard #StellaMV Updates
Due to the inclement weather from the Nor’easter Blizzard “Stella” the following changes have been made to the City of Mount Vernon operations:
- Recycling Pick-ups are Cancelled for Wednesday March 15th, 2017
- Alternate Side of the Street Parking Rules are Suspended for Wednesday March 15th, 2017
All Rules, Regulations and Sanitation Pick-ups will return to regular schedule on Thursday March 16th, 2017

- When cleaning snow from your vehicles please DO NOT throw snow into the street. Snow may be shoveled to the front or rear of your parking spot.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY…A Nor’easter Nears!
Mount Vernon, NY (January 23, 2017) – The City of Mount Vernon has issued a winter weather advisory for 3:00pm Monday, January 23rd until 6:00am Tuesday, January 24. A severe coastal storm will be approaching the region this evening bringing high winds, heavy rain with the potential for flooding, low temperatures in the mid 20’s and possible snow flurries.
6th Ave Bridge Closure
After years of neglect our bridges are now beginning to receive the immediate attention and repairs that where long overdue. Metro North will commence with repairs to the 6th Ave Bridge between Stevens Avenue & 1st Street. The bridge will be temporarily closed from December 5th – 8th. #FixOurBridges #MVReady #MVDPW
