Mount Vernon, NY (January 23, 2017) – The City of Mount Vernon has issued a winter weather advisory for 3:00pm Monday, January 23rd until 6:00am Tuesday, January 24. A severe coastal storm will be approaching the region this evening bringing high winds, heavy rain with the potential for flooding, low temperatures in the mid 20’s and possible snow flurries.


6th Ave Bridge Closure

After years of neglect our bridges are now beginning to receive the immediate attention and repairs that where long overdue. Metro North will commence with repairs to the 6th Ave Bridge between Stevens Avenue & 1st Street. The bridge will be temporarily closed from December 5th – 8th. #FixOurBridges #MVReady #MVDPW


Revised Sanitation Schedule – Thanksgiving Week

The following garbage pickup schedule will be in effect for the week of November 21 – 25, 2016.
Monday November 21st
NORTHSIDE – Yard Waste
Tuesday November 22nd
SOUTHSIDE – Yardwaste
Wednesday November 23rd
NORTHSIDE – Recycling (Bottles, Cans, Plastic)
SOUTHSIDE – Garbage & Rubbish
Thursday November 24th (Thanksgiving)
Friday November 25th
NORTHSIDE – Garbage & Rubbish
SOUTHSIDE – Recycling (Bottles, Cans, Plastic)
Alternate side of the street parking is suspended on both sides of the street on Thursday, November 24th, 2016 for Thanksgiving.

There will be heavy traffic on Oak Street between N. Terrace Ave. and the Bronx River Parkway, during the hours of 9:30AM – 2:30PM.
Residents will be able to get to and from their homes but we ask the general public to avoid these streets, if possible. Thank you for your cooperation
