Mount Vernon City Court Judge Vacancy
Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard and The City of Mount Vernon are currently considering applications to fill the City Court Judge vacancy due to the untimely death of Judge William Edwards. As a result of this vacancy, Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard is calling on residents of the City of Mount Vernon to submit resumes to kevans@cmvny.com no later than September 21, 2022 at 4:30 pm. Candidates for the position of City Court Judge should be prepared to interview by Monday, September 26, 2022 and Tuesday, September 27, 2022. Furthermore, Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard has appointed William O. Wagstaff III, Esq. as the chair of her judicial committee which will interview and provide recommendations to the Mayor on this appointment.
Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard stated, “I had the personal privilege to work with Judge Edwards in the City’s Drug Court and bear witness as he presided with charisma, passion, and most importantly, compassion for the residents of Mount Vernon. Our work now focuses on filling his position with a competent and qualified candidate. I’ll be reforming our judicial committee to review resumes, interview candidates, and provide recommendations on this judicial appointment.”
