The City of Mount Vernon Youth Empowerment Council (MVYEC) is an advisory body comprised of local youth that provides ideas, advice, and counsel to the Youth Bureau and local governing body, as well as other community organizations. We are looking for high school students who take pride in our community and are willing to invest their time and talent to give a voice to the needs of our youth and help us bridge the gap between their needs and our provision for them.
In addition to attending MVYEC sessions twice per month, our youth are expected to participate in five or more community service projects, city council events/meetings, school board meetings, and town hall meetings.
