City Council Notes of Meeting with the Department of Justice

On Thursday, June 21, 2018, Councilmembers Duarte and Griffith joined the Thomas Administration in a meeting with attorneys from the United States Department of Justice, Southern District of New York, an attorney with the New York State Attorney General’s Office, and members of the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.  Mayor Thomas requested the meeting to discuss the potential lawsuit that would be be brought by the DOJ for the city’s violation of the Clean Water Act.  It is alleged that the city has not prevented illegal and illicit discharge from flowing into the city’s waterways.
