Please be advised that the Mount Vernon City Council will be receiving a presentation study report tonight April 30, 2018 at 6:30 pm from the Department of Planning’s Consultant team. The study is concerning the Draft nomination for the Canal Village Revitalization Brownfield Opportunity Area (BOA) and Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP).
Immediately following, the City Council will have a Special Meeting for the purpose of adopting an “Ordinance granting permission to the Recreation Department to Co-Sponsor Summer Fun at Hartley Park with the Westchester Jewish Community Services” and any other such business to come before the City Council.

The City Council is pleased to announce the honorees of the 2018 Spring Honoring Ceremony which will be held during a regular City Council meeting on Wednesday, April 25, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. Twice each year, Council Members honor individuals and organizations who have made valuable contributions to the Mount Vernon community. Honorees are:
- Andre Brown-Dubose, Director of Collin Allen Day Care Center;
- Association of Community Based Artists of Westchester (AC-BAW);
- James McMillian, Coach of the Mount Vernon Razorbacks;
- Bishop Errol O’Savio, Senior Pastor of the Mount Olivet Apostolic Church;
- The Forward Thinkers.
All are invited to join the City Council as they recognize these esteemed individuals/organizations.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM FY 2018-2019
The City of Mount Vernon is inviting eligible non-profit 501 (c)(3) organizations to submit applications for the Community Development Block Grant funds for the 2018- 2019 program year.
Pre-application workshops will be held so that interested groups can review the process of submitting an application to be considered for funds. Applicants will be required to attend one of the three pre-application workshops.
April 24, 2018 at 5:00 p.m.
April 25, 2018 at 6:00 p.m.
May 2, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.
Applications will be due no later than 4:00 pm on Friday, May 25, 2018, at City Hall, 1 Roosevelt Square, Mount Vernon, NY 10550.
To be eligible, a program must satisfy one of the following national objectives:
- Provide a benefit to low and moderate income persons,
- Prevent or eliminate slums and blight, or
- Meet other urgent community development needs due to natural disasters or other emergencies.

It’s that time of Year! Time for Mt. Vernon’s annual Memorial Day Parade. We are actively seeking performance acts, businesses, community organizations and other groups to participate in this year’s processional that honor’s our military’s fallen. If you group or business would like to contribute to this Patriotic Event, complete the registration form and return it to Mt. Vernon City Hall. As always there is NO FEE for participation in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Day Parade. All groups are welcome!!!
