The City of Mount Vernon and The Peoples Film Fest will present the first MountVernon Film Fest at the Doles Center from September 24 – September 28.
The Production company of The Peoples Film Fest and Producer Osrisis Imhotep are seeking artists, actors, singers, producers, directors, filmmakers, and writers who would be interested in being a part in an exciting new venture. Opportunities also exist for sponsors, judges, presenters, speakers and volunteers.
An outgrowth of the successful The People’s Film Festival in Harlem, an initiative of The People’s Media Music & Arts Foundation and developed to promote awareness in independent music, media, and art across the globe, the festival encourages audiences to develop a greater appreciation and understanding for cultural diversity in film.
The Mount Vernon Film Festival (MTVFF) will showcase of extraordinary films from emerging and aspiring artists, filmmakers, and directors that integrate different media formats to produce quality films. The 4 day film festival is designed to highlight Mount Vernon’s rich historic and diverse culture while celebrating the giants like Michael O’Keefe, Phylicia Rashad and Denzel Washington that were born of this great city. The goal of the festival is to link the past and the present–introducing and re-introducing films from both emerging, independent and established filmmakers.
A series of workshops and panel discussions designed to empower the people will additionally be offered. We also have a special category for filmmakers (youth & adults) who currently live or have lived in Mt. Vernon.
Films, shorts, narratives, and documentaries are being sought in all categories. Regular film submission deadline is July 17, 2014. Last film submission deadline is August 10, 2014.
Not only will the Mount Vernon Film Fest be a wonderful opportunity for budding filmmakers and others to showcase their worrk, it will be a great networking opportunity in the Mount Vernon area.
