Mount Vernon Annual Holiday Celebration

For the past few years Fred Schwam has contacted the Mayor’s Office to schedule an installation date for a twenty foot holiday tree on City Hall’s plaza.

American Christmas is a local holiday decorations company specializing in adorning some of New York City’s most notable locations like Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall and Saks Fifth Avenue. The company donates the tree and its decorating services so that residents can enjoy the joy of the season each time they pass the municipal building. Schwam, American Christmas’ CEO, also oversees the installation of trees inside of the Police and Fire Departments.

The trees were installed this past Wednesday and will be lit at 6 pm on Monday, December 16 at the city’s Annual Holiday Celebration. The celebration will include a toy giveaway and music will be provided by the All City Band and the Mayors Choir. Also making a re-appearance will be the Three Kings, popular figures in mainly Latin countries who represent the journey from distant lands to Bethlehem while bearing gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh upon the birth of baby Jesus. Candy canes, courtesy of the Mount Vernon Chamber of Commerce and light refreshments provided by the Allen Memorial Church CDC Board will also be offered.

All are welcome to come together in the spirit of community celebration to enjoy the spirit of the holiday season. In the event of rain, the festivities will be held on the ground floor of city hall.
