Fabulous Mount Vernon born and raised Glenda Davenport opens a hot show with her sultry vocals. An Apollo Theater Amateur Night winner in 1993, her Quartet opened for comedian Bill Cosby at Purchase College, April 1994. She’s performed at many tri-state venues and as exclusive vocalist with tenor saxophonist Carmen Leggio’s Quartet and at the Saratoga Jazz Festival, the Binghamton Jazz Festival and with the Miles Ahead Quartet with Michael Carbone, tenor sax Glenda was Executive Producer of her debut CD, “Sophisticated Lady,” and recently released her second CD, “More Than You Know.” She is performing regularly with the Hiroshi Yamazaki Trio.
Fil Straughan, a schoolmate of Heavy D and Al B. Sure, is an artist who took Mount Vernon with him when he expanded his musical journey into Europe. Currently residing in England, Fil specializes in marure music, the kind made by Luther Vandross, Teddy Pendagrassand Barry White, Al Green and George Benson. He always remembers the influence Mount Vernon had on him. Last year he came home to put on a performance that that still has people taking. The singer, songwriter and entertainer left the investment banking world to pursue his music career fulltime. Fil appeared with Hot Chocolate and Ray Lewis’s Drifters before striking out on his own. Today he’s recording his own music and wowing audiences with his performances, especially those capturing the essence of Luthur Vandross.
Valarie Adams is the veteran soul song-tress who worked as lead vocalist for Brooklyn based BT Express. and she is joined by for BT Express keyboardist Sam Manigault in the busy New Jersey group, The Dimensions Band. One of the most sought after bands in New Jersey, they have performed around the world in places such as Japan, Europe, Bermuda, Egypt, Paris, the West Indies, Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruise Lines, etc. The have with the likes of Gladys Knight, Pattie Labelle, James Brown, Denzel Washington, Kool & the Gang, Drifters, Queen Latifah, Sinbad, DL Hugley, and many more.

Leon & The Peoples Bring Reggae Vibrations – July 13
Leon Robinson not only has acting under his belt but is also gaining popularity as a singer. Leon & The Peoples, are an International Reggae and World Music Award (IRAWMA) nominee for their CD, “The Road Less Traveled” and one of New York’s hottest rising bands. They successfully completed their first North American tour with reggae greats Beres Hammond and Marcia Griffiths with many sold-out dates as part of the “For The Love of It Tour”. Most people don’t realize Leon spent his early years in Mount Vernon and how much influence the community had on him. Those days were filled with music of his father singing Nat King Cole or Motown songs, but a special cord was struck inside him when his friends introduced him to Rastafarian culture and the music. He has found it his home ground to return again and again. Leon’s band consists of seven musicians. The band has toured with Beres Hammond and Marcia Griffiths titled the “For The Love Of It Tour”. Leon, with all of his social consciousness and commitment to giving back, is coming back home to share knowledge and song with his hometown community. It’s always great to welcome home people who’ve made it. They remember where they came from and and know that their success is a success for the conmunity.
