Zumba Gold
Zumba Gold classes will be held on Tuesday mornings at the Mount Vernon Armory from 10:00am – 10:45am. Zumba Gold uses the classic Zumba formula and modifies the moves and pacing to suit the needs of older participants. Program Fee: $40 per 10 sessions. February 5th – April 9th, 2013. Registration for this class will be taken at the Mount Vernon Department of Recreation, 1 Roosevelt Square, Room 11.
After School Activities
Looking for something fun and educational for your child to do after school? The Mount Vernon Department of Recreation offers after school activities for children ages 5 – 12 at the Pennington Elementary School. Children will receive homework assistance every day while also having the opportunity to partake in fun recreational activities like basketball, martial arts, card and board games, arts and crafts and more! This program operates Monday – Friday from 3:00pm – 6:00pm. Program Fee: $375.00 per 10 – week session ( Less than $2.50 per hour!)
Zumba Fitness
Zumba classes will take place at the Transcend Dance studio on Monday evenings from 7:15pm – 8:15pm. Zumba classes feature exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin and international beats. This program is for participants ages 13 and older. Program fee: $70 per 10 week session. February 4th – April 8th, 2013. Register for this program at the Transcend Dance studio – 6 Gramatan Ave. Suite 203.
Youth Dance
On Monday afternoons from 3:30pm – 4:30pm, youth dance classes will be held at Transcend Dance studio @ 6 Gramatan Ave. Suite 203. Working with professional artists and master teachers, students will learn expressive movement combinations intergrating Jass and Hip Hop basics. This class is for children ages 7-11. Program Fee: $100 per 10 week session. Register for this class at Transcend Dance studio only. February 4th – April 8th, 2013.
Teens Dance
Children ages 12 -17 interested in learning how to dance can sign up for dance classes at Transcend Dance Inc. located at 6 Gramatan Ave. Suite 203. This program will take place on Wednesday afternoons from 3:30pm – 4:30pm. Register for this class at Transcend Dance studios. Program Fee: $100 per 10 week session. February 6th – April 10th, 2013.
Free Skate at The Mount Vernon Ice Hutch
Sign up now for free skating at the Mount Vernon Ice Hutch on Saturday afternoons from 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm. Children under age 8 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. This program will run from January 19th – April 13th, 2013.
Women’s Fitness Classes
Hello ladies! Have you vowed to get back into shape for the new year? If so, here is your opportunity! Come join Diane Atkins, Deputy Commissioner of the Mount Vernon Recreation Department as she works with a certified personal trainer every Monday and Wednesday evening from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm or from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm in the Doles Center Fitness Gym. This program runs from January 7th – February 27th, 2013. This program is FREE for Doles Center Fitness Gym members (Annual membership $120.00), or $20 for non gym members.
Instructional Soccer Clinic
On Monday afternoons from 4:00pm – 6:00pm, children ages 7 – 17 can participate in an instructional soccer clinic at the Sports Underdome. Participants will learn the basics of shooting, passing and dribbling. This program will run from January 7th, 2013 – March 18th, 2013. Program fee: $35 – Residents, $45 – Non- Residents.
Instructional Baseball and Softball Clinic
The Department of Recreation will be holding an Instructional Baseball and Softball Clinic in the Mount Vernon High School Turf Room. Boys and girls, ages 6 – 17 can sign up to learn the basics of throwing, catching, hitting and fielding from experienced baseball trainers. The program will run from February 1st – March 23rd, 2013. Program Fee: $30 – Residents, $40 – Non-Residents.
Mount Vernon Theatre Club
Does your child like to sing or dance? If so, have them join the Mount Vernon Theatre Club! Every Saturday from 10:00 am – 1:00pm, the Mount Vernon Theatre Club reherses at the Doles Community Center. Children will learn the basics of performing arts while presenting a new performance every month. This program will run from February 2nd, 2013 – June 23rd, 2013. Children ages 7 – 17 years old. Program Fee: $25.00.
