The Mount Vernon East BOA Pre-Nomination Study is a study completed by the City of Mount Vernon Department of Planning and Community Development. The study was prepared for the Step 2 application to the New York State Brownfield Opportunity Areas grant program in December 2009. The first component of the study provides a substantial amount of information about the City in general and the Mount Vernon East section of the City in particular. Topics of the study include land use and zoning, demographics, natural resources, underutilized sites, land ownership, as well as preliminary analysis and recommendations for a more in-depth nomination study, and multiple maps detailing various conditions in the Downtown/Mount Vernon East section of the City. The second component of the study is the Mount Vernon Action Plan, completed in March 2009 by the City College Architechtural Center for the City of Mount Vernon. The Mount Vernon Action Plan was prepared with funds provided by the New York State Department of State under the Quality Communities Initiative.
