The Mount Vernon Library is the Central Library for the Westchester Library System.

Funds for the building were part of an Andrew Carnegie grant donated in 1886. The Mount Vernon Library is the Central Library for the Westchester Library System. The collections include more than 500,000 volumes in over 70 foreign languages, a newly refurbished children's room with more than 76,000 volumes, Federal and State documents, and a local history room, The Mills Law Collection and the George E. Haynes Collection. The Rotunda of the building was part of a WPA works projects and includes a magnificent stained glass skylight.
