Deborah M Norman
Deputy Commissioner
Deputy Commissioner Deborah Norman, born in New Rochelle, New York, received most of secondary education in Mount Vernon public schools. After graduating from Mount Vernon High School she joined the United States Army. While in the military Deborah was stationed at many locations worldwide in service with the Military Police Corps. She performed duties as Military Police patrol officer, Physical Security Inspector, Drug Suppression Supervisor and has also held numerous leadership positions including Drill Sergeant Instructor at Fort McClellan, Alabama. Deborah participated in many deployments and military operations. Upon her retirement from the United States Army at the rank of Master Sergeant, she was appointed Deputy Fire Commissioner by Mayor Ernest D. Davis. As Deputy Commissioner, she is responsible for the daily operation of the department in addition to assisting the Fire Commissioner in meeting the goals and objectives of the department. Commissioner Norman completed numerous military and law enforcement courses, schools and training while in the Army. She attended Northern Virginia Community College, Gadsen State College, Jacksonville State University and Mount St. Mary’s College for Criminal Justice.
