Deputy City Clerk


In October 2004 George W. Brown was appointed Mount Vernon Deputy City Clerk. Mr. Brown was reappointed again in January 2007 to a four year term.

Mr. Brown a native son of Mount Vernon received his primary education from the local schools in Mount Vernon. After retiring from the Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Mr. Brown brings 32 years of corporate, experience knowledge and expertise to the City of Mount Vernon. He came with an extensive background in Public / Customer Service, Accounting, Conflict Resolution, and Corporate Safety.

Mr. Brown is involved in and has received awards from many community and civic organizations. Mr. Brown has volunteered as a Celebrity Chef Cook for the YMCA and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Event Co-Chairperson for Mount Vernon Relay for Life of the American Cancer Society, Team Captain of Harlem RFL of ACS. Membership as a District Leader (D18) of the Mount Vernon Democrat City Committee, Black Democrats of Westchester, Past Vice President of the Mount Vernon Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors, St. Joseph Lodge #117 F&AM, Adah Chapter #82 OES, Grand Lecturer of the M.W.P.H.G.L.N.Y, and the International Institute of Municipal Clerk.

Mr. Brown earned an Associate Degree in Applied Science from Westchester Business Institute majoring in Computer Network Administration. Also a Bachelor of Science Degree from Manhattan College, majoring in Organizational Management. Loves inter action with people and loves his Family.

Nothing is like Sunday morning where he gets his tank filled for the week at Greater Centennial AME Zion Church, where he is a proud member.
