1. APPLICATIONS FOR PERMITS:
BUILDING PERMIT AND EQUIPMENT PERMIT:
• $80.00 application fee, plus
• $6.00 for each $1,000.00 of estimated cost, permit fee.
AMENDMENT:
• $80.00 application fee, plus
• $6.00 for each $1,000.00 of estimated cost above the original cost, permit fee.
DEMOLITION PERMIT:
• $80.00 per 1,000 square feet of gross floor area of structure or building to be
demolished.
PLUMBING PERMIT:
• $80.00 for the first six fixtures to be installed,
• $10.00 for each additional fixture.
The following fees are additional to the fixture fee:
• $50.00 for sewer connection.
• $50.00 for water connection.
• $100.00, plumbing work for new or replacement boiler for 1- and 2-family dwelling.
• $175.00, plumbing work for new or replacement boiler for other type of occupancies.
ELECTRICAL PERMIT:
• $80.00 application fee, plus
• $6.00 for each $1,000.00 of estimated cost, permit fee.
Application and permit fees must be paid simultaneously at the time of filing.
SIGN PERMIT:
• $125.00 for all types of signs except awnings, canopies, and ground signs.
• $175.00 for awnings and canopies that bear advertising on no more than one side, plus
$75.00 for each additional side that bears advertising.
• $100.00 for street clock.
• $125.00 for ground signs with advertising on one side, $175.00 for ground signs with
advertising on two sides.
• $125.00 per sign for an application to the Sign Board of Appeals, additional to the sign
permit fee.
The permit fee for re-painting or re-facing an existing sign “to match existing” is the same
as a new sign of the same type.
CHANGE OF GRADE AND FILL OF VACANT LAND:
• $50.00 for the first six inches in change of grade, plus $10.00 for each additional inch.
• $500.00 for the first 20,000 cubic yard for fill of vacant land, plus $10.00 for each
additional cubic yard.
LEGALIZATION FEE FOR PERMITS:
The legalization fee is the fee charged for each type of permit application necessary to be
filed to legalize work which has been performed without a permit from the Department of Buildings
and for which no stop order or violation has been issued.
• $1,500.00 per dwelling unit, for legalization of the work, other than electrical and
plumbing work, performed to create a dwelling unit.
• $1,000.00 for legalization of any other type of work.
PENALTY FEE FOR PERMITS:
The penalty fee is the fee charged for each type of permit application necessary to be filed
to legalize work which was performed without a permit from the Department of Buildings and which
received a stop work order and/or an “article 3” violation.
The penalty fee is equal to the application and permit fees listed above for the applicable
type of permit plus the legalization fee.

2. CERTIFICATES AND INSPECTIONS:
CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY:
• One- and two-family dwelling: $150.00
• Multi-family dwelling: $100.00, plus $30.00 per dwelling unit
• Other uses: $300.00 per story of non-residential use. A mezzanine shall be counted as a
story for the purpose of fee calculations.
CONDITIONAL TEMPORARY CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY:
The fee for a conditional temporary Certificate of Occupancy shall be calculated in the same
manner as the fee for a final certificate, and shall be paid in addition to the final certificate
fee.
REINSPECTION FOR CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY:
The following fees are charged if the inspections fail and the premises must be re-inspected:
• One- and two-family dwelling: $50.00
• Multi-family dwelling: $80.00, plus $10.00 per dwelling unit
• Other uses: $80.00 per story of non-residential use.
CERTIFICATE OF TENANCY:
For non-residential tenancies only:
• $100.00 for up to 5,000 square feet of gross floor area, plus $50.00 for each additional
5,000 square feet.
• $500.00 penalty fee shall be charged for new non-residential tenancies occupying a space
without first obtaining a Certificate of Tenancy.
LETTER OF COMPLETION:
• $50.00 per permit number.
RE-INSPECTION:
No fee is charged for an inspection requested as per permit and code requirements.
However, in the event that the work is not ready for the inspection at the time requested by
the contractor or the applicant, a fee of $80.00 will be charged for re-scheduling of the
inspection.
OCCUPANCY SIGNS:
Occupancy signs for Places of Assembly are mandatory and must be renewed every year.
• $50.00 per sign for the first 50 occupants, plus $25.00 for each additional 50 occupants.
• $50.00 yearly renewal per sign. Renewal must be requested by the applicant.
• $100.00 fee, additional to occupancy sign fee for failure to request a required occupancy
sign.
The premises will be subject to inspection prior to the issuance of a new or renewed
occupancy sign.
VACANT APARTMENT INSPECTION:
• $80.00 per apartment. This inspection is required prior to new tenants moving in.

3. APPLICATION FOR CITY BOARDS APPROVALS:
ZONING REVIEW:
• $150.00 for one- and two family dwelling.
• $250.00 for all other uses.
SUBDIVISION AND REAPPORTIONMENT:
• $500.00 per lot created and altered by the subdivision.
• $500.00 per lot altered by the reapportionment.
SITE PLAN APPROVAL:
• $350.00, plus $20.00 per off-street parking and loading space provided at the premises.
• $350.00 for an amendment to site plan approval to request an extension of time.
• $350.00, plus $20.00 per off-street parking and loading spaces provided at the premises for
an amendment to the site plan approval other than an extension of time.
SPECIAL USE PERMIT:
• $500.00 for a Special Use Permit application.
• $250.00 for an amendment to a Special Use Permit approval to request an extension of
time.
MUNICIPAL PARKING FEE:
The municipal parking fee is a fee due prior to the issuance of a building permit when an
area variance for off-street parking requirement has been granted by the Zoning Board of Appeals in
connection with such building permit.
The municipal parking fee is due prior to the issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy for
structures or developments that received a variance for off-street parking requirement but have not
yet received a Certificate of Occupancy.
• $500.00 per required off-street parking spaces that are not provided.
LANDSCAPING FEE:
The landscaping fee is a fee due prior to the issuance of a building permit when an area
variance for impervious surface requirement has been granted by the Zoning Board of Appeals in
connection with such building permit.
The landscaping fee is due prior to the issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy for structures
or developments that received a variance for impervious surface requirement but have not yet
received a Certificate of Occupancy.
• $20.00 per square feet of impervious surface in excess of the permitted coverage.
ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS APPLICATIONS:
These fees are posted for your information, but are charged through the Planning and
Community Development Department.
• $1,000.00 for a use variance.
• $200.00 for area variances for a one- or two-family dwelling.
• $1,000.00 for area variances for all uses, except one- and two family dwellings.
• $500.00 per lot requiring area variances for a subdivision or reapportionment.

4. ANNUAL FEES:
HOISTING EQUIPMENT ANNUAL INSPECTION FEE:
• $200.00 per elevator.
• $100.00 per conveyor and escalator.
• $100.00 per auto lift and per hoisting equipment other than the ones listed above.
SIGNS ANNUAL FEE:
The annual sign fee is only applicable to the signs listed below:
• $125.00 per legally existing billboard.
• $2.50 per square feet of any type of signs overhanging more than 12 inches over the City’s
right-of-way.

5. ADMINISTRATIVE FEES
DISMISSAL OF VIOLATION:
• $80.00 per violation. The letter of dismissal may only be requested once the violations
have been corrected in accordance with codes and the Department of Buildings procedure.
SEARCH OF RECORDS AND COPIES:
• $75.00 for search of violations for one property.
• $75.00 for search of Certificates of Occupancy and/or Tenancy and letter of completion for
one property.
• $75.00 for search of permits and/or applications for one property.
• $12.00 per photocopy of certificates.
• $.25 per photocopy other than a photocopy of certificates.
REFUNDS:
• If an application for a permit is withdrawn prior to any official review, all but the
application fee of $80.00 shall be refunded.
• If an application for a permit is withdrawn during the review process, an amount to be
determined by the Commissioner, and commensurate with the review work already performed, shall be
retained.
• If an application for a permit is withdrawn after its approval, fees shall not be
refundable.
• If an application for a permit is dormant or abandoned for a period in excess of six
months, it shall become void. Paid fees shall not be refundable.
