Resolution Establishing The Standard Work Day For Elected Officials

Be it Resolved, that City Council of the City of Mount Vernon, NY hereby establishes the following standard work day for elected officials and will report the  following days worked to the New York State and Local Employees’ Retirement System based on the record of activities maintained and submitted by these officials to the Clerk of this body. City Council To Honor Distinguished Citizens

The City Council is pleased to announce the honorees of the 2018 Fall Honoring Ceremony which will be held during a regular City Council meeting on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.  Twice each year, Council Members honor individuals and organizations who have made valuable contributions to the Mount Vernon community.  Honorees are:

  1. Manuel Albuquerque, Founder of the New York Portuguese Civic Association;
  2. Roberta L. Apuzzo, Director of Community Service Associates;
  3. Mel Campos, Chief Professional Officer, Boys and Girls Club of Mount Vernon;
  4. Jennifer Lackard, President of Grace Baptist Church’s Station of Hope Prison Ministry;
  5. Miesha Stokely, Proprietor of Cupcak Cutie Boutique.

All are invited to join the City Council as they recognize these esteemed individuals.

Special City Council Meeting Notice

Please be advised that a Special Meeting of the Mount Vernon City Council will be held on Thursday, Morning November 8, 2018 at 8:30 A.M. in the City Council Chambers, second floor, Mount Vernon City Hall, Mount Vernon, New York for the purpose of enacting legislation authorizing the Executive Director and one staff member to attend the NYS 21st CCLC ROS Fall Conference and Annual Training in Albany, NY and such other business as may be presented before such meeting.

Con Edison Accounces Its Text Alert Service

The Mount Vernon City Council is pleased to announce to Mount Vernon residents that Con Edison has created a text messaging program which will provide updates on pre-storm preparation information, outages, and estimated time of restoration.

On Wednesday, October 3rd, 2018 Mesquite Productions will be filming in City Hall.  As a result, the City Clerk (Room 104) and Registrar (Room 115) Offices will close at 3:00 PM.

Public Safety and Codes Committee Meeting

The Committee of Public Safety and Codes will hold a sub-committee meeting on Monday, October 1, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss decisions of the Zoning Board of Appeals.  The meeting will be held in the City Council Committee Room.

Special City Council Finance & Planning / Human Resources Meeting

Please be advised that there will be a Special Meeting of the Committee of Finance and Planning  on Wednesday September 12, 2018 at 2pm in the City Council Committee Room. Following the above meeting the Committee for Human Resources will also hold a meeting.

Special City Council Meeting

A special meeting of the City Council will be held on Monday, August 27, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. for the purpose of adopting an ordinance to amend ordinance no. 1 adopted on August 20, 2018 to authorize the adoption of the first amendment to the December 24, 2008 Inter-Municipality agreement with the County of Westchester related to the renovation of the site known as Memorial Field, and any other business that may be presented before said meeting.
