Special City Council Meeting Recessed

The special meeting of the City Council scheduled to be held on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. has been recessed until 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers for the purpose of “adopting a resolution affirming the execution of a professional services contract for Cornerstone PLLC, preparation of technical specifications and bid documents guiding the remediation of Memorial Field”, and any other business that may be presented before said meeting.

City Council Honoring Ceremony

The City Council is pleased to announce the honorees for the 2019 Spring Honoring Ceremony which will be held during a regular City Council meeting on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.  Twice each year, Council Members honor individuals and organizations who have made valuable contributions to the Mount Vernon community.  Honorees are:

  1. Carlos Alexandre, former director of the Mount Vernon Human Rights Commission;
  2. Sonia Cole, MD- Community Psychiatrist and Diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology;
  3. Jordan Gyapong, activist and honor student;
  4. Mount Vernon Public Library

All are welcome to join the City Council as they recognize these distinguished citizens and organizations.

 

 

City Council Advisory Committee

The City Council is seeking persons interested in serving on a City Council Advisory Committee which will assist the City Council in drafting an ordinance on the “Convention on the Elimination on all Forms of  Distrcimination against Women” (CEDAW), an international bill of rights for women which was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1979.

On the local level, the Convention would define discrimination and engage in a number of measures to end discrimination against women in all forms.

All interested persons should submit a cover letter and resume via mail or hand delievery by Monday, May 6, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. to the:

Real Estate Committee Meeting Cancelled

The Real Estate Committee meeting scheduled to be held on Friday, March 29, 2019 has been cancelled.  The next meeting is scheduled to be held on Friday, April 26, 2019.

 

 

Board of Ethics Meeting

The Board of Ethics will meet on Monday, March 25, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the Memorial Room located on the Second Floor of City Hall, Mount Vernon, New York.

Public Forum on Memorial Field

All are invited to share your expectations and concerns on the renovation of Memorial Field at a public forum scheduled to be held on Monday, April 2, 2019 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m at Graham Elementary School located at 421 East 5th Street, Mount Vernon, New York.

Elected officials from the County of Westchester and the City of Mount Vernon will be present to hear your suggestions and concerns.
