The Department of Recreation will be hosting a Tennis Clinic on Friday evenings from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm. This program is conducted based on the skill level of the participant. Beginners play from 5:00pm – 6:00pm, intermediate skilled players from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm, and advanced players from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Students will be evaluated at the first class to determine skill level and class placement. Program fee: $70 per session – residents, $80 per session – non residents.
The Department of Recreation will be holding an Instructional Baseball and Softball Clinic in the Mount Vernon High School Turf Room. Boys and girls, ages 6 – 17 can sign up to learn the basics of throwing, catching, hitting and fielding from experienced baseball trainers. The program will run from October 4th – December 21st, 2013. Program Fee: $30 – Residents, $40 – Non-Residents.
On Monday afternoons from 4:00pm – 6:00pm, children ages 7 – 17 can participate in an instructional soccer clinic at the Sports Underdome. Participants will learn the basics of shooting, passing and dribbling. This program will run from October 7th, 2013 – November 25th, 2013. Program fee: $30 – Residents, $40 – Non- Residents.
The Rose Simon Summer Camp program provides safe and secure recreational activities for children with developmental disabilities due to mental retardation, cerebral palsy, neurological impairment, epilepsy and autism. Activities include games, arts and crafts, swimming, bowling, movies, barbecues, and sporting activities. Campers will take trips to the New York Hall of Science, Rye Playland, Sportstime USA and various museums.
The Department of Recreation will be hosting a basketball clinic at the Mount Vernon high school for children ages 7-17. This program will teach children the fundamentals of basketball from dribbling, to passing and shooting. The program will run from Monday – Friday, from 1pm – 5pm. Program Fee: $75 per week.
