City Council To Hold Prayer Vigil for Victims of Violence and Natural Disasters

Members of the Mount Vernon City Council, like many throughout the country, were shocked and saddened to hear about the senseless shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada. Music lovers were enjoying a weekend concert when gunfire erupted. Today family members and friends are heartbroken that their loved one’s lives were taken so violently and so suddenly.

Roberta L. Apuzzo, President of the Mount Vernon City Council stated, “The Council and community will gather to pray for not only the victims of the Las Vegas shooting, but for their family and friends who will never forget the horror of this senseless attack on innocent victims out to have a good time. Prayers will also be offered for those victims who were struck with the recent onslaught of natural disasters.”

The City Council will hold a prayer vigil on the steps of City Hall on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. to remember the victims of recent tragedies that have occurred across the country and in the city.
