City Council Public Hearing Notice

The City of Mount Vernon is authorized pursuant to New York State Real Property Tax Law, Section 467-b to adopt legislation to enact the Disability Rent Increase Exemption (“DRIE”)-a program that provides a tax abatement for rent controlled and rent regulated property occupied by persons with disabilities.  Real Property Tax Law § 467-b also authorizes the City of Mount Vernon to establish DRIE income eligibility requirements up to the maximum statutory limit of $50,000 per year combined household income.

In order to receive public input, the Mount Vernon City Council will hold a public hearing to determine whether the City Code should be amended to establish the DRIE program and, if so, what the income eligibility limit should be.

The public hearing will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 in the City Council Chambers, Second Floor, City Hall, 1 Roosevelt Square, Mount Vernon, New York 10550 at 7:00 p.m.
