Citywide Alternate Side of Street Parking in Effect for Thursday, February 13

With the latest winter storm expected to move into our area early Thursday morning, alternate side of the street parking will be in effect for all streets in Mount Vernon.  This will enable public works crews to plow streets to the curb on one side through the duration of the storm. After the storm motorists will be alowed to park on the opposite side of the street. Police and public works crews are prepared to  strictly enforce this and other snow rules.

NORTHSIDE – Thursday Rules In Effect

SOUTHSIDE – Tuesday Rules In Effect

Residents are reminded not to blow or throw snow into the street when clearing  property or cars. Please use the tree lawn, the area between the curb and sidewalk, to place snow. Put off shoveling the end of driveways until plows have passed your area. In addition, property owners on corner plots are reminded that it is their responsibility to open sidewalks to the street.

Consider clearing hydrants that may be in front of your property. Should an emergency occur, firefighting personned will have immediate access to save lives and property.
