ENJOY FREE PARKING IN CERTAIN CITY LOTS ON THE LAST DAY OF 2013

New Year’s revelers can take care of last minute business on the last day of the year without worrying about parking fees at certain meters in some city lots. Effective Tuesday, December 31, motorists can park in the following Municipal Parking Lots between 8:00AM and 9:00 PM for the day without feeding meters:

  • Lot 1 –      South Fifth Avenue
  • Lot 2 –      Gramatan Avenue
  • Lot 8 –      North Third Avenue Parking Garage
  • Lot 9 –      Roosevelt Square Parking Garage
  • Lot 16 –      Fleetwood Parking Garage

Parking enforcement officers will still be making the rounds throughout the city. Motorists are reminded that meters still have to be fed if parking on streets.

Grace Terrace, LLC Scoping Document

 

NOTICE

 

 An application has been submitted for a zone change, mapping of the site located at 125-129 South Fifth Avenue (Grace Terrace Site), and for site plan approval to accommodate the development of senior housing in accordance with the Multi Family Senior Citizen Floating Overlay Zone (RMF-SC) in the City of Mount Vernon, NY.  The Grace Terrace Site, is currently zoned for Downtown Business (DB), and consists of three parcels identified as Tax Map Section 165.78, Block 3088, Lots 32, 33 and 34 in the City of Mount Vernon. The three lots will be merged into one tax parcel as part of the proposed development process.  A small two story building, which will be demolished, currently occupies the site and houses the New Beginnings Educational Institute Day Care Center.  The Mount Vernon City Council has declared its intent to act as Lead Agency under the New York State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) and anticipates that on January 15, 2014 it will begin the SEQRA review process. The applicant has submitted the proposed Draft Scope for an environmental impact statement in anticipation of the City Council requiring the preparation of an environmental impact statement. In order to have public input on the process the City Council will be accepting written public comments on the draft scope through the close of business at 4:30 P.M. on January 8, 2014.  To examine any related documents and/or to submit written comments on the draft scope please contact: Contact Person:

City Council Committee Meeting

The City Council Committee Meeting will be held on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. in the City Council Committee Room.

Regular City Council Meeting

Please be advised that because of the Christmas holiday, the regular City Council meeting will be held on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. 

Special City Council Meeting

A special meeting of the City Council will be held on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the City Council Chambers for the purpose of adopting a local law to override the tax levy limit established in General Municipal Law § 3-C, and any other business as may be presented at said meeting. 

MOUNT VERNON OFFERING FREE PARKING FOR HOLIDAY SHOPPERS

Mount Vernon is suspending enforcement of certain meters in some city lots in order to promote holiday shopping. “The city wants to encourage more people to do their holiday shop locally. Spending dollars in the city helps the local economy more than people realize and supports small business. 

Effective Monday, December 16 through Tuesday, December 24, shoppers can park in the following Municipal Parking Lots between 8:00AM and 9:00 PM without getting ticketed:

  • Lot 2 –      Gramatan Avenue
  • Lot 8 –      North Third Avenue Parking Garage

Special City Council Meeting

A special City Council meeting will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. in the City Council Chambers, Second Floor, City Hall, Mount Vernon, New York for the purpose to “Declare Intent to Act As Lead Agency under SEQRA on the Grace Terrace Application” and any other business as may be presented at said meeting.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY – PROGRAM CLOSINGS, ETC.

The Mount Vernon Recreation Department has suspended activities at the Armory and Doles Senior Centers due to the snowy weather forecast. Home delivery of meals will not be affected by the center closings. Meals to homebound seniors are expected to be delivered by 12:00 p.m. The senior theatre trip scheduled for today will not be affected unless the theatre cancels all performances.
