SPECIAL BOE MEETING NOTICE
Please be advised that a Special Meeting of the Mount Vernon Board
of Estimate and Contract will be held on Friday December 30,
2011 at 12:00 pm in the Mayor’s Conference room. Mount Vernon
City Hall, Mount Vernon, New York, for the purpose of acting on the
following legislation:
“Adopting The Annual Estimate for 2012”
Special City Council Meeting Canceled
Please be advised that the special City Council meeting scheduled
for tonight Thursday December 29, 2011 at 4:00 pm is canceled.
Architectural Review Board Meeting Dates 2012
The Architectural Review Board meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Memorial Room unless otherwise noted. All applications and associated materials must be deemed complete by the submission deadline which is twenty-one (21) days prior to the meeting. Meeting dates and submission deadlines from January through December 2012 are listed below:

Special Board of Estimate & City Council Meeting Notice
Please be advised there will be a special meeting of the Board of
Estimate and Contract meeting held Thursday December 29, 2011
at 8:30 am in the Mayor’s Conference Room. The purpose of the meeting
is to adopt the annual estimate for 2012.
A special meeting of the City Council will be held on Thursday,
December 29, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. The purpose
of the meeting is to call for a public hearing on the annual estimate 2012.

room. Mount Vernon City Hall, Mount Vernon, New York, for
the purpose of acting on the following legislation:
“Adopting The Annual Estimate for 2012”

Letter From City Council President
To the Residents of Mount Vernon:
As you may be aware, the City Council intended to hold a public
hearing on the budget this Thursday, December 29th, 2011.
It does not appear that this will happen. The fact is that as of
the time I write this letter, neither the Mayor nor the Comptroller
has voted to move the process forward. Please know that as the
Council’s representative, I have voted in favor of presenting this
budget to you in spite of the fact that it contains many things that
I do not agree with. The Council understands that the budget is a
document that is amended periodically throughout the year to
address the ever changing needs of the various departments.
We accept the fact that there is no such thing as a perfect budget
and that the responsibility is to present a fair annual estimate
that both supports the needs of the city at large while
understanding the impact of increases in taxes to the residents.
But without the vote of the Comptroller or the Mayor, we
have no budget to present to you, the resident! It might be easy
to say that this is politics as usual in Mount Vernon. The
problem with that thought is that the inaction seems to
benefit no one! The City Councils last scheduled meeting is
Wednesday, December 28th at 7pm. As always, we want to
hear from you. If you would like to speak at this meeting,
please call the Office of the City Clerk before 3:00 pm to
put your name on the list. As always, we thank you for
expressing your civic concerns.

scheduled for Friday December 23, 2011 at 6:00 pm was canceled.
Furthermore, the 2012 Budget Public Hearings schedule for
December 29, 2011 at 7:00 P.M. is also canceled.

The City Council will hold a public hearing on the proposed budget for fiscal year
2012. The public hearing will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at
7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.
