On Friday, October 28th, 2011, the Mount Vernon Department of Recreation in conjunction with Andrew & Lisa Catering will host a Halloween Fright-Fest at the Doles Community Center, located at 250 South Sixth Ave., Mount Vernon, New York.
“We are excited about hosting the annual Halloween event for the children of Mount Vernon,” said Mayor Clinton I. Young Jr. “Last year’s Halloween event was a huge success and this year’s will be even better!”
The Mount Vernon Department of Recreation will be assisted by Andrew & Lisa Catering to host the Halloween event. Andrew & Lisa Catering is a Mount Vernon based catering company that is looking to give back through community outreach and volunteerism.
“We want to give back to the children of Mount Vernon,” said founder Lisa Garland. “We want to show our youth a good time and provide them with an atmosphere in which they can enjoy themselves. This is a wonderful way for us to give back to our community.”
The Department of Recreation will provide candy to children ages 12 and under. A costume contest will also be held during the festivities. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes.
“All children love to celebrate Halloween. We want to assure that the children of Mount Vernon have a safe place to enjoy the festivities with their peers,” said Commissioner of Recreation Peter J. Neglia.
The event will take place at the Doles Community Center from 5pm-8pm. Any donation of food, candy or other Halloween supplies can be brought to the Mount Vernon Department of Recreation.
