A near Million dollar investment in New Playgrounds will help revitalize local neighborhoods and create safe havens for Mount Vernon children
“This is an investment in our children,” noted Mayor Young. “This new playground will feature a new safety surface, swings, play apparatus, benches and greenery. All told we are investing nearly one million dollars in 2010 capital project funding to renovate 10 playgrounds around the city to give Mount Vernon children a safe place to play as well as revitalize our communities,” said Mayor Young.
In additional to the Sophie J. Mee Playground, nine other parks will undergo upgrades, including:

Located at South Third Avenue and East 4th Street in Mount Vernon, the Sophie J. Mee Playground is part of Mayor Young’s citywide playground renovation project.
